Chronicles of
Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
As London in World War II air raids threatened, the four
siblings Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy leave the town and
temporarily into the country house of the elderly Professor
Digory Kirke draw. There, the children come one day to an empty
room in which an old closet is located. This turns out to be a
cupboard door to another world - the mysterious country of
Narnia. In Narnia the children meet talking animals, and the
amazing things happen. The noble lion Aslan asks the sisters
for help in the fight against the White Witch, the country with
the curse of eternal winter has demonstrated. A prophecy has
foretold that there are four children from our world will be
able to liberate Narnia ...
As a literature professor Clive Staples Lewis, 1950 with The
King of Narnia wrote his first children's book, he first met
with little enthusiasm. Even Lewis' close friend and fellow
writer JRR Tolkien believed that a novel in which talking
animals, a white witch and Santa Claus romp, no success would
be. Lewis could not be swayed - on the contrary, over the
years, he returned in six volumes in the magical Narnia country
back. Today, The Chronicles of Narnia long ago to the classics
of English children's.
